The BAC Group of Companies today announces the retirement of its Managing Director, John Plested. The Company has appointed Chris Schuler as the new Managing Director, taking effect on 31 March, 2011. John Plested joined BAC as a Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician in 1978 and, over time, was promoted to Project Manager and then Managing Director, about which he says, “As an HVAC technician and Project Manager you are pretty much master of your own destiny, but once in the Corner Office you answer to a number of different entities that all have to be clearly understood and dealt with differently. As BAC’s Managing Director I have been able to see the company grow considerably and the completion of our new warehouse/residential building is the legacy I leave behind.”

In the course of John’s time with BAC, he was responsible for the HVAC installations in several new office buildings in the City of Hamilton: the LP Gutteridge Building, Bank of Bermuda Par la Ville and Compass Point, Bank of Butterfield Rosebank, Clarendon House, Global House, Victoria Hall, and many others.

Chris Schuler joined BAC in 1987 as a Mechanical Field Superintendent possessing a strong back ground in the mechanical business. Graduating at the top of his class and through sheer hard work, a great work ethic, getting along with others, and getting the most out of the people working with him, he showed leadership qualities that confirmed his ability to take over the reins and move the Company forward.

Asked about his intentions as Managing Director, Chris says, “I aim to continue to provide all of our customers and clients with the most professional service possible. I also believe in continuing to train our employees so that we can be one of the best Bermudian businesses on the Island, and one that all our employees are proud of.” As for his immediate focus for 2011, he elaborates, “We want to remain the leading company in the mechanical industry through these difficult economic times, and will always be on the lookout for opportunities to improve on our knowledge and expertise in these areas.”

The BAC Group employs a staff of 165 that includes many long‐serving employees, due in part to the close‐knit atmosphere of the firm. The Company is a family‐oriented, community‐focused organisation that promotes an equal opportunity workplace, whose mission is to design and build the very best indoor environment for our customers – a philosophy embraced at every level within the organisation.

As John heads towards his greener pastures, Chris wishes him well for his retirement, “It has been great working for him and I am most grateful for his leadership and experience in making our management transition successful.”

(Hamilton, Bermuda – January 20, 2011) Bermuda Air Conditioning Ltd. (BAC) today announces they are launching a new campaign to focus on their plumbing services. Most of the public in Bermuda today doesn’t realise that BAC offers plumbing service across the board: Commercial and residential, from big projects to small repairs.

Attention was brought to this ‘best kept secret’ during the last Annual General Meeting of the BAC Board of Directors. Like most companies, one of their greatest concerns is retaining good staff by ensuring there is sufficient business to keep them employed. It was brought to light that many people had no idea that BAC handled residential plumbing services.

John Plested, General Manager of the BAC Group of Companies: “We often get comments from the public that they are not aware of our plumbing services. When people think of BAC, they think of air conditioning, but we are much more than that! BAC has been serving the island for over forty years, designing and installing the most efficient plumbing systems. BAC also has one of the largest plumbing service departments on the island, complete with the most updated equipment.”

Every plumbing problem is unique so BAC Plumbing Services have groomed a team of master plumbers to handle any job, big or small, at any time. The team is trained with the right expertise to handle both commercial and residential plumbing tasks, with extremely competitive prices. And some additional facts of which the public is probably unaware are that BAC will service all units and equipment, regardless of whether it has been sold by them or not, and the Company provides a 24-hour on-call service as well as the capability to make a service call on their website, www.bac.bm.

Those interested in more information on plumbing can visit www.bac.bm, e-mail service@bac.bm or call 292-0881.

(Hamilton, Bermuda – March 10, 2009) Mills Creek Properties Ltd, a subsidiary of Bermuda Air Conditioning Ltd. (BAC), today announces that they have just broken ground on a new 77,500- square foot building on Mill Reach Lane in Pembroke.

Designed by well-known Bermudian architectural firm Linberg & Simmons, the six-story building is set for completion later this year. The project is being managed by Atlantic Building Consultants Ltd, with construction led by Somers Construction Ltd. Located on 0.45 acres directly behind BAC’s current facility on Mill Creek Road, the elevated 2nd floor parking level plus the open plan ground floor will still allow container trucks to pass through the property.

“This is an exciting project for BAC,” says James Gibbons, President of BAC Ltd. “We have partnered with some of the most trusted names in the business to build a functional commercial development near the City of Hamilton. Our goal is to complete the project on time and on budget with environmental sustainability in mind, and we are convinced that the end result will be something we can be proud of. Our decision to develop this property today confirms both BAC’s confidence in Bermuda and the future.”

While the ground level and first and second floors will be used by BAC Ltd., the third and fourth floors each contain some 11,360 square feet of net warehouse space that will be available to rent in early 2010. “For our part, we needed additional warehouse space,” says John Plested, Managing Director of BAC. “We also realised that there are other companies out there which could no doubt benefit from the same thing, given that commercial storage space is at such a premium in Bermuda.”

The top level of the building will contain studio apartments for short-term BAC employees. Solar panels located on the building’s roof will produce all the hot water for the 19 apartments. “Being in the mechanical engineering and HVAC industry ourselves,” Mr. Plested continues, “it has been important to us from the outset to consider the project from a ‘green’ standpoint, hence the use of solar panels and more energy efficient heating and air conditioning units in the construction process.”

Those interested in more information about the construction project should email info@bac.bm.
